PALATINE – Jenny Covers’ warm-up session for the vault finals at the IHSA Girls Gymnastics State Meet was somewhat unsettling.
PALATINE – Prairie Ridge’s girls gymnastics team has come a long way in a couple of years.
Updates from the IHSA Girls Gymastics State Meet on Saturday in Palatine:
PALATINE – Considering where Jenny Covers started her day at the IHSA Gymnastics State Meet, finishing third in the all-around was quite an accomplishment.
When Prairie Ridge gymnast Jenny Covers falls, as she did on the balance beam and uneven bars the past two weeks, she hops up, dutifully smiles, quickly recomposes herself and finishes her routine.
LINCOLNSHIRE – Taylor Weber’s excitement almost got the best of her.
After the final buzzer sounded Saturday, Crystal Lake South 103-pound wrestler Nick Fontanetta had his hand raised as the winner, just like he has in every other match this season.
DEERFIELD – Prairie Ridge took a couple of valuable things home from the IHSA Deerfield Girls Gymnastics Regional on Monday.
WAUCONDA – Johnsburg’s wrestling team went 3-0 on Saturday with impressive victories against Vernon Hills, 51-24, Antioch, 47-31, and Wauconda, 39-29, at the Wauconda Bulldog Duals.
NAPERVILLE – Prairie Ridge’s girls gymnastics team had an added degree of difficulty when defending state all-around champion Jenny Covers did not compete Saturday, but the Wolves won the five-team Neuqua Valley Invitational with 142.825 points.
Nikki Novak, a freshman at Cary-Grove, finished 10th in the all-around at the USA Gymnastics Level 9 Easter National Championships from May 7-10 in Tupelo, Miss.
