The Huntley boys basketball team almost became the first team to beat Fremd this season in its 49-46 overtime loss Monday night in Huntley.
The Red Raiders (15-6) went out to an early 14-4 lead in the first quarter, which the Vikings responded to with a 19-2 run of their own to take a 26-21 lead at the half. Huntley came back in the third quarter by outscoring Fremd 15-9 to regain the lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The game eventually went to overtime, where Fremd (21-0) outscored Huntley 8-5 to get the nonconference win.
Riley Wicks led Huntley with 13 points, and Amanze Egekeze added 11.
Burlington Central 57, Marengo 28: At Marengo, the Indians were outscored 30-6 in the first half of their Big Northern Conference East Division loss. Taylor Carlson led Marengo (4-22 overall, 2-8 BNC East) with 11 points.
Richmond-Burton 43, Genoa-Kingston 41: At Genoa, the Rockets (14-9, 7-4) led by 10 heading into the third quarter and held on to win in BNC East play.
Abby Straight led the Rockets with 12 points, and Lauren Otto and Hannah Koenig each added eight. Koenig led the team with 13 rebounds.
Mooseheart 38, Faith Lutheran 26: At Hinckley, the Saints’ season ended with a first-round loss at the Class 1A Hinckley-Big Rock Regional.
