Roundup: Alden-Hebron boys drop 2 in own tourney

Jacob Heaver led Alden-Hebron in scoring in two losses for the Giants on Monday at their boys basketball Christmas tournament.

In the first game, Heaver scored 13 points and teammate Cody Nelson added 10, including a 3-pointer, in the 43-33 loss to Harvest Christian.

After a first quarter in which A-H was outscored, 16-7, the Giants kept pace in the final three quarters.

In its second game, A-H got edged by New Jerusalem, 45-44. Heaver scored 17 and Nelson added 11 in the loss. For the tournament, the Giants had a 1-3 record.

York Jack Tosh Tournament: At Elmhurst, Greg Johnson had 12 points and six rebounds, and Cody Freund added 10 points for McHenry in a 56-41 loss to Chicago Lane Tech.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Dundee-Crown Charger Christmas Classic: At Carpentersville, New Trier beat Prospect, 54-35, to win the tournament title game. In the third-place game, Evanston beat Mother McAuley, 57-46.

Buffalo Grove downed Dundee-Crown, 61-42, in the 15th-place game.
