Prep roundup: Cary-Grove girls defeat Dundee-Crown

Katie Barker’s hot start to the season continued Tuesday for the Cary-Grove girls basketball team in its 57-36 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win over Dundee-Crown at Cary.

Barker led all scorers with 27 points for C-G (5-2, 1-0).

Kayla Lawrence and Emily Michalski each scored nine to lead the Chargers (1-6, 0-1).

Jacobs 41, McHenry 40: At Algonquin, Nita Williams led the Golden Eagles (2-5, 1-0) with 12 points, with Carly Sidor adding 11 points in the FVC Valley win. Makayla Snedeker led the Warriors (1-6, 0-1) with 10 points.

Huntley 61, Bartlett 44: At Bartlett, Ali Andrews led the Red Raiders (7-0) with 23 points, with Sam Andrews scoring 13 and Kayla Barreto adding 12 in their nonconference win.

Marian Central 52, IC Catholic 48: At Woodstock, Sarah Benigni led the Hurricanes (3-1, 1-0) with 18 points, and Hannah Davis added 12 points in the Suburban Christian Conference win.

Luther North 39, Alden-Hebron 38: At Hebron, Brooklyn Hilton led the Giants (2-3, 0-1) with 15 points, with Jacqueline Walters and Hannah Behrens each added eight points in the Northeastern Athletic Conference loss.

Byron 61, Richmond-Burton 42: At Richmond, Jillian Townsend led the Rockets (1-3) with 10 points in the Big Northern Conference crossover loss.

Grayslake North 53, Johnsburg 33: At Johnsburg, Trace Chase scored 10 points to lead the Skyhawks (2-5, 0-1) in their FVC Fox loss.

Grayslake Central 47, Hampshire 36: At Hampshire, Sara Finn led the Whip-Purs (4-2, 0-1) with 12 points in their FVC Fox loss.

Rockford Lutheran 67, Harvard 21: At Harvard, Abby Linhart led the Hornets (0-4) with nine points in a BNC crossover loss.

GIRLS BOWLING

Marengo 3,111, Mendota 2,743: At Glo-Bowl in Marengo, Dominique Bailey led Marengo with a 642 series, including two 222 games, with Kellie Krenzelok adding a 205 game.

BOYS BOWLING

Mendota 3,372, Marengo 3,235: At Glo-Bowl in Marengo, Kyle Alt led Marengo with a 622 series, with Jake Barton adding a high game of 221.
