Cary-Grove coach Patty Langanis described her team's regional quarterfinal start against Jacobs as "disastrous" with unforced errors stunting the Trojans.

Despite trailing No. 5 Jacobs at the midway point of Games 1 and 2, No. 4 C-G rallied to beat the Golden Eagles 25-22, 25-20. The Trojans (21-15) play No. 1 Crystal Lake South at 6 p.m. in Tuesday's regional semifinal.

Junior middle blocker Morgan Lee's four aces fueled C-G, particularly in Game 2 when her back-to-back aces gave the Trojans a 21-19 lead. Jacobs (20-16) committed two errors to end the match.

"We just all feed off each other, so when one person is doing well it really helps our team move forward and know we can get the next point again," Lee said.

Outside hitter Abby Schebel led C-G with seven kills while sophomore outside hitter Katie Mahoney tallied a match-high eight kills for Jacobs.

"I was still very proud of how we showed up to play," Jacobs coach Lisa Dwyer said. "Point-wise, we scored a lot more than the second time we played them so I was really proud of them."
