The end of the slam dunk contest

The IHSA announced on Wednesday that it plans to do away with the annual slam dunk contest, which has been held during the boy's basketball state finals each year since 1992.

According to the Associated Press, the IHSA committee argued against bringing the contest back, citing a lack of interest and noting that while athletes commit to participating, they often fail to show up.

The IHSA board agreed with the committee's recommendation.
