Marian Central showed interest in joining Big Northern Conference

The Big Northern Conference has been looking to fill the void Hampshire will leave during the 2011-12 athletic season when the Whip-Purs join the Fox Valley Conference.

One school that showed interest was Marian Central, the Daily Chronicle reported. The Hurricanes were one of two schools to show its interest in the BNC before the conference's December deadline.

The BNC sent just one invitation – to Rock Falls – according to conference president and North Boone athletic director Dale Purvis. Rock Falls is expected to accept the BNC's invitation at its Jan. 20 board of education meeting.

Marian Central currently plays in the Suburban Christian Conference, formerly the Suburban Catholic Conference which was revamped for the 2009-10 season to include four more schools.
