The Thunder (1-1) got 10 points from Aleecia Braun and nine from Emma Everley. North trailed most of the first three quarters but outscored the Caxys, 19-11, in the final quarter. “We came out and put some pressure on them, took the lead and held it,” North coach Mike Lewis said. “My girls did a good job knocking down their free throws to close it out.” The Thunder hit 18 of 27 free throws for the game and 6 of 9 in the fourth quarter. “They were excited, but they expect to win,” Lewis said. “They knew if they had played as hard as they could have the entire game, it wouldn’t have been as close. They’re happy but not satisfied.” Burlington Central Tournament: Marengo fell behind in the first half by 29 points and could not snap back in a 75-43 loss to Belvidere North.
